Adrian Mills

Chief Operating Officer, BBC England

Adrian is responsible for the business and operational management of BBC England, with major broadcast centres outside of London, and local radio and television stations across the country. He is based at MediaCity in Salford.

He began his career at the BBC, directing and producing programmes for children, including The Really Wild Show, Record Breakers and Play School.  He spent 15 years in Canada, where he was Head of Children’s & Education for TVO, Head of Children’s, Youth and Daytime for CBC Television, and then Executive Director of Programming for CBC Radio. Adrian returned to London in 2004 and became Chief Executive of LGT, creating digital resources for gifted children and their teachers.

Adrian likes to keep in touch with his creative roots and was recently an Executive Producer on the new series of Teletubbies for CBeebies. He has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education and child psychology. He is member of BAFTA, an International Emmy Award winner, and Chair of the World Summit on Media for Children Foundation. He holds dual British and Canadian citizenship.
