Course SummaryPrepare for university and/or a career in the growing area of animal science with this new and exciting Level 3 Extended Certificate. Through a range of practical and theory sessions, you will learn the specifics of animal biology, interaction, training, behaviour, grooming and conservation. Qualification ObtainedBTEC National Extended Certificate in Animal Management Industry Placement and Field TripsA relevant work placement is required as part of the programme and we aim ro provide a number of trips during the course which are relevant to this field of study. Learning and Teaching MethodsWe use a variety of learning and teaching methods, designed to emphasise the link between knowledge and application. These include lectures, demonstrations, practical investigations, seminars, workshops, tutorials, project work, supervised independent learning, open and resource-based learning, online learning and a work placement. Teaching is both tutor-led and student-led, with group work playing a part as well as individual learning to provide a well-rounded learning experience that caters for different learning styles. The course comprises a total of 400 timetabled hours and you will be expected to devote an additional 100 hours to online learning. Assessment Methods You will be assessed using a variety of methods throughout the course and will receive regular informal and formal feedback enabling you to continuously improve the work you submit. You will be asked to undertake coursework, develop a portfolio and take exams as part of this programme. Your final result will be aggregated from your performance across a number of key elements which will be both internally assessed and externally verified.
