Course Summary Discover the latest abrasive wheels regulations and practice with this one-day intensive course. Nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to an unsafe system of work or operator error. On this course operators will be trained to correctly select, mount and dress the abrasive wheels they will use every day. A must for anyone who works with abrasive wheels, the course provides high quality instruction on topics ranging from disc mounting to safe transportation. Our RoSPA-qualified trainers bring theory to life in an intensive one-day course providing 8 hours’ continuous professional development (CPD). Students are monitored closely throughout the course to ensure that they reach the required Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards. This course is delivered in line with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98). PUWER 98 requires that all machinery is suitable for its intended use and is properly maintained, and that employees, including those using, mounting and managing the operation of abrasive wheels, are fully informed and properly trained in their safe use. Entry Requirements There are no specific entry requirements for this course. This one-day intensive course covers a range of topics, including legislation on disc mounting, selecting and fitting, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and operating the machine through to safe transportation. Industry Placement and Field Trips There are no work placements and no field trips on this course. Learning and Teaching Methods The course is mostly made up of interactive and practical sessions, facilitated in a workroom environment by our accredited trainers. The approval process ensures that staff delivering and/or assessing a given programme are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
