Course Summary The core element of a T Level in Digital Business Services will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as programming, coding, the use of data and the different platforms of delivery in the digital industry. It’s a cutting-edge subject, so you’ll also learn about the potential security risks that organisations can face and how to analyse problems and identify solutions through computer programs. You’ll then move on to study the role of data technician in more detail, so you can build up the skills you need for your future job. You’ll learn about sourcing, organising and formatting data, as well as how to interpret and communicate results. You’ll also develop the skills needed for data analysis and the different ways to manipulate data. Then you’ll be able to put everything you learn into practice, with an industry placement of around 45 days. There you'll have an amazing opportunity to work with an employer while you study, such as an IT company or department, and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for. During this 2-year programme, you'll develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of digital occupations. This course is suitable for school leavers who want to develop wide-ranging professional skills in the digital industries. Essential Skills – English and Maths If you achieve a grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English you will have to work towards re-sitting these subjects as part of your main study programme. At B&FC, this won’t delay your career journey because you’re working towards these subjects at the same time as your chosen subject. Qualification Obtained T Level Technical Qualification in Digital Business Services All students will develop the knowledge and skills of a data technician: sourcing, organising and formatting data for analysis blending data from multiple sources analysing data to support business outcomes interpreting data and communicating the results discovering, evaluation in applying sources of knowledge Industry Placement and Field Trips You will be required to complete an industry placement with an employer, which will last for a minimum of 45 working days (between 315 – 420 hours) Industry Placements are managed by an appointed Workplace Co-ordinator within the curriculum area who maintains liaisons with employers, performs visits and logs required documents such as insurance. Learning and Teaching Methods Teaching and learning differs for each element, with practical topics incorporating a summative assignment that results in product creation. Students are initially supported by demonstrations and walkthroughs and later by a workshop/individual focus intended to foster creativity. Modules are delivered by subject specialists with industry experience. Facilities and resources are regularly updated to improve your experience in college and online to match the needs of the course. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of further education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
