Course Summary This 1 day introduction to massage course is a great way to enjoy a relaxing day to not only do a massage but receive one as well. On the course you will learn basic techniques used in massage to cover the legs, back, neck and shoulders. Keys points that will be covered on the course: Equipment and safety Benefits of massage therapy Correct and effective communication for client comfort Contraindications (precautions to look out for before massage) Practical use of basic massage techniques. These include Effleurage, petrissage, wringing and tapotement. Conduct a massage on the legs, back, shoulders and neck. Industry Placement and Field Trips Work placement is not compulsory on this course. Learning and Teaching Methods At Blackpool and The Fylde College we recognise that all students learn differently and for some it may be a return to the classroom following a break from formal learning. Our tutors work with you to ensure that their teaching methods support the way that you like to learn. Student will be required to attend for the full session on site. In order to receive a massage you will have to complete a health questionnaire as there are certain medical conditions that will prevent you from you safely receiving a massage. This can be discussed with the course tutor prior to the start of the course. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Assessment Methods There is no formal assessment on this course however you will be closely monitored to ensure correct techniques are being used throughout the course.
