Course SummaryThis programme is for those learners who are between 16 to 24 years old and wish to pursue a career as an apprentice, but as yet have not gained employment within the industry area of their choice. The programme (minimum of 12 weeks, up to a maximum of 6 months) will enable you to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours to aid your progression into employment as an apprentice in your chosen sector area. You will also have an opportunity to develop your maths and English skills. Traineeships cover a range of vocational areas, including Health and Care (Adult/ Child), Business Administration, Construction, Hospitality and Catering, Engineering, Automotive, Retail, Customer Service and Hair and Beauty. This traineeship comprises: 100 hours industry placement 60 hours independent study 224 hours classroom study Industry Placement and Field Trips We will support you to gain a 100-hour industry placement with a local employer in areas such as: Health and Social Care Business Administration Construction Hospitality and Catering Engineering Automotive Retail Customer Service Hairdressing During your programme you will obtain valuable knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to your sector subject specialism area. Other Costs and Equipment Needed Applicants will need access to a computer and the internet. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Career Options and Progression Completion of this programme will give you the knowledge skills and behaviours to progress to the work based learning programme as an apprentice, or alternatively, further study as a full time learner on a study programme of your choice here at the college. On completion of the programme we will assist you in your career and job search, supporting your potential interview for current vacancies, an exit interview, together with meaningful written feedback.
