Develop your knowledge and craft skills in the area of electrical installation to help develop your career in this area. Ideal for those who have moved careers into the electrical industry, the course allows you to practise (and be assessed on) the installation of wiring systems within a secure environment.
It is an industry-recognised qualification, enabling you to build the portfolio of work needed to make up the full NVQ required by employers. The course covers areas such as electrical systems design, inspection and testing, and fault diagnosis, which will help you to progress towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.
You will need to have successfully completed the Level 2 Electrical Installations.
Ideally, you will be working in the electrical installations industry and have GCSE Maths and English minimum grade C/4 (or an equivalent qualification) since the course is heavily theory based. It is essential you are committed to fully attending College, two nights a week for 35 weeks.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Our expert tutors understand that everyone learns in different ways so they use a range of teaching methods to enable everyone to achieve their potential. A key method used is demonstration, which allows you to observe the practical application of skills before having a go yourself.
You will attend 2 evenings a week for 35 weeks.
You will work collaboratively with your peers in group work, presentations and within practical sessions. E- learning is a key element of all our programmes and will involve you using our virtual learning platform (Moodle) for independent study and learning.
We also use a range of online apps to support, enhance and motivate learning.
Your tutors will support you with these technologies and also in preparing for exams.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
