Plumbing - Level 3
Course Code: CM1FE254
This industry-recognised qualification follows on from the Plumbing Level 2 course, allowing you to extend your knowledge and experience of plumbing. The course delivers an understanding of complex tasks such as domestic gas supply, hot and cold water systems, central heating, sanitation and draining systems. Successful completion leads to relevant employment within the industry or you might wish to develop your skills further with a higher-level qualification.
You should have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing.
If you are a year 11 student applying for this programme, we will compare your GCSE results with the minimum target grades set for you by your school. This will help us decide whether this is your most suitable programme of study. Other students, including those from outside the area, will have an opportunity to discuss their qualifications and experience to make sure they too are studying at the right level. For some programmes, we might need to observe you carrying out certain practical tasks before we can make you an offer.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Expert tutors use a variety of teaching methods to support you in developing relevant skills and an in-depth understanding of safe working practices. A typical week consists of 12.5 hours' timetabled time, 70% of which is practical and 30% theory. Practical sessions take place in our newly extended construction skills centre, with the theory side being taught in class.
If you have not already achieved GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 (previously grade C) or above, you will need to continue with your studies in these subjects at the appropriate level.
