Course Summary This 6 week course is the ideal introduction to the techniques used by vehicle body repair and vehicle paint technicians. The programme has been designed to improve your understanding of different techniques used to repair vehicle body and paint damage and teach you how basic vehicle body repair and vehicle paint procedures are carried out. This course is ideal for car enthusiasts or as an insight for anyone considering a career change. Entry Requirements There are no entry requirements for this course You will learn how to carry out a range of practical activities using industry-standard tools and equipment. Modules you will cover include: Repairing minor vehicle panel damage Mixing and applying vehicle body fillers Mixing and applying primers Mixing and applying top coats You will also get the opportunity to take advantage of your tutor’s expert knowledge in more complex aspects of vehicle body repair and vehicle paint. Industry Placement and Field Trips There are no industry placement requirements for this course. There are no planned mandatory field trips. Learning and Teaching Methods You will be taught by tutors who have a wealth of industry experience and a passion for teaching. They will get to know how you learn best and tailor their teaching methods to your needs. The course is 100% practical and delivered in our £10 million Advanced Technology Centre. You will have access to facilities, tools and equipment that match the very best equipped vehicle body repair and vehicle paint commercial workshops. Your tutor will demonstrate how to carry out vehicle maintenance and repair procedures and techniques, which you will then be able to practice on your own. Your tutor is an industry expert and will encourage you to perform practical activities to the highest standards, while providing frequent, encouraging and supportive feedback. This course is practical-based and is delivered in the following way (hours shown are weekly): Vehicle Body Repair and Paint Practical (Workshop – 2.25 hours) Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of any courses within the College are approved to teach and/or assess the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering and/or assessing a given programme are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Assessment Methods There is no formal qualification for this course and no formal assessment. Your tutor will observe you while you carry out practical tasks and provide you with encouraging and informative feedback to ensure you develop your knowledge and skills. Regulation and Accreditation: Accrediting Institution: N/A Awarding Body: NONE Other Costs and Equipment Needed You will need to provide your own safety boots and overalls / boiler suit for practical activities. A typical pair of safety boots should cost no more than £12 and a pair of overalls £15. All other protective equipment will be provided by us. All tools and equipment are provided for practical sessions and access to computers and all software required for the course is available within the College facilities. You will be expected to provide your own pen, pencil, basic drawing equipment and a note pad.
