Driver Assistance Systems have been with us since ABS was introduced in the 1920s. Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is the ultimate level (Level 5) of vehicle autonomy and will be available to the public in near future. Modern-day sensors have already allowed for the introduction of features such as lane control, anti-collision and self-parking to the list of Driver Assistance Systems, taking us to Level 3 in the 5 levels of vehicle autonomy. Entry Requirements The course is designed for technicians currently working in the automotive industry who have diagnostic experience. Applicants should have vehicle repair knowledge and skills at Level 2, or at least 3 years industry experience in a vehicle repair environment. Modules This Accreditation contains one mandatory unit: AOM 230 – You will learn how to Apply the safe working practices related to the calibration of ADAS Identify the type of ADAS sensors that require calibration Access and interpret technical information Set-up ADAS calibration equipment and the work area Calibrate difference ADAS sensor types (Optical, Radar, Lidar, Ultra-sonic) Configure ADAS features to specific vehicle parameters and customer requirements Industry Placement and Field Trips There are no industry placements or field trips on this course. Learning and Teaching Methods Training includes a combination of presentations and practical activities. A maximum class size of 4 ensures you can work at your own pace and receive outstanding levels of tutor support. The assessment ensures rigour and quality of assessment by measuring the candidate’s underpinning knowledge. Learners must demonstrate the learning outcomes by following and achieving two assessment components which are set by the IMI. You will complete mandatory practical assessments, during which your tutor will assess your skills in meeting the criteria. You will receive immediate feedback, giving you the opportunity to make improvements if required. You will need to achieve a 60% pass mark in the IMI online knowledge exam.
