Course Overview

Blackpool and The Fylde College is working with social media giant Facebook to deliver FREE digital skills programmes.

The four-hour sessions are designed to give a crash course in three areas of digital literacy – security, marketing and innovation.

The localised programme is a four-hour session which consists of inclusive, highly engaging, face-to-face events, comprised of a series of workshops, designed to help young people to build their digital confidence and skills that will help their future careers.

Each event hosts three one hour workshops. By the end of each workshop, participants feel invigorated, informed and up-skilled.

The three areas the course focuses on include:

  • Becoming safer online – understanding dangers of the web and learning how to protect an individual or business
  • Making the web work for you – looking at different web tools and how to use them, including search optimisation and web analytics. See how developing a winning web presence is relevant for an individual or their business
  • Innovation – a chance to come up with the next idea or prototype. This session will ignite a digital mind-set to come up with solutions to problems in life and work. The session will focus on teaching the techniques of innovation called design thinking, a process which is used by businesses worldwide, including Facebook, Apple and Google.
