Course Overview

This qualification is designed for those working in or wishing to work in the health and social care sector and who wish to develop their understanding of the safe handling of medicines. 

It consists of 4 units and provides the knowledge and understanding of:         

  • different types of medication and their use
  • the procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medication
  • legislation and the audit process related to medication and issues of responsibility and accountability
  • the record keeping process for medication

The course is delivered remotely and runs over 5 weeks with 3.5 hours of scheduled contact time each week.  

You will be assigned a subject specialist course tutor who will deliver the live scheduled sessions. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and to guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification.  

Entry Requirements

No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date.

This course will be delivered remotely with live lectures and support sessions schedule for a total of 3.5 hours a week for 5 consecutive weeks from the course start date.

Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks.  
 
It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3.5 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.
