This qualification (NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia) is assessed through the completion of individual workbooks.
The qualification aims to build on learners’ knowledge and awareness of dementia, and teach the skills required for those working in more senior roles in social care settings.
It is aimed at learners in school or college, or those working for local authorities or private commercial homeowners.
Learners will develop an understanding and awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia, allowing for progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or Level Dementia Care qualifications.
It may also allow learners to progress into employment in social care settings.
The course runs over 4 weeks (3 hourly sessions).
This knowledge only qualification is designed for learners wishing to develop their awareness of dementia.
No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be at least 19.
Teaching and Learning Methods
You will attend college for a 3 hour session weekly.
Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks.
It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete your workbooks.

The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
