Prepare for a paramedic career with this two-year Paramedic Professional Practice course. Develop your academic and writing skills as you explore key topics such as human growth and development, and apply your knowledge to a real-life setting during practical work experience.
Successful students will gain the maximum 168 UCAS points needed to progress to a paramedic practice degree and become a fully qualified paramedic. Our expert tutors provide lots of individual support to help you on your journey to this hugely rewarding profession.
To do this course you need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (previously grade A*-C), including English, Maths and Science. We offer re-sit options for maths if required.
A level 2 health and social care qualification is beneficial but not essential.
You will also need to have a clear DBS (criminal records check) as this is a requirement for your work placement.
All 16-18 year old applicants will be invited to attend an interview to meet a tutor and ask any questions they may have about the course.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Throughout the course, you will spend 3 days a week in College and 1 day a week on work placement in a relevant health or social care setting.
At College, teaching is delivered in groups and supported by group activities and discussions. One-to-one support is also provided. Your timetable will also include time spent with teaching staff to support you in completing your written assessments.
When you start the course, we will assign you a progress tutor, who will support you throughout your time at College to ensure you reach your full potential. Their role will involve helping you to set academic and personal targets as well as develop career plans and employability skills.

All staff involved in the delivery of further education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
