The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is for practitioners who assess knowledge, understanding and competence in a work environment and replaces the D32/33 and Al/A2 qualifications.
The expected duration is 6-12 months.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, an interview to establish if you are assessing candidate’s occupational and vocational competence is required.
There is an expectation that you hold a minimum level 3 qualification in the area you wish to assess - for example, Level 3 Plumbing, or Level 3 Hairdressing.
Teaching and Learning Methods
- attend seminar sessions at College, where possible (usually 4 or 5 sessions, one per month, twilight or evening class)
- attend ongoing 1-2-1 meetings/observations with your tutor/assessor, throughout the whole period of study, usually monthly.
- build a portfolio of evidence (OneFile digital portfolio) to meet the standards which will consist of work-based & classroom based evidence and observations.
You will be supported in this by a Skills Coach from the Apprenticeship team who assesses in the same discipline as you.
Additional learning support is available if required.
All staff involved in the delivery of business to business courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. Our teaching staff are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
