Course Overview

This qualification can be completed over one year where those wishing for a career in the hairdressing industry. The course is practical based offering a wide range of skills such as cutting, colouring, blow-drying and a variety of hair styling techniques supported by underpinning knowledge for each unit by assignment workshops, theory workshops, functional skills and tutorials. It also gives students opportunities for timed work placed assessments in a realistic working environment. Students will have the opportunities to work in commercial salons with state of the art resources and equipment.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs at grade C/4 including Maths and English or level 1 in Hairdressing.  You will also need good communication and dexterity skills, as well as a keen desire to work with the general public in a professional manner. Initial assessment for BKSB Maths and English must be E3 to be considered for this programme.

Essential Skills – English and Maths

If you achieve a grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English you will have to work towards re-sitting these subjects as part of your main study programme. At B&FC, this won’t delay your career journey because you’re working towards these subjects at the same time as your chosen subject.
