Course SummaryStart your journey towards a career in business administration with the STEPS programme, co-created with employers to develop the skills and experience you’re going to need. Start your journey towards a career in business with the STEPS programme starting in February, the programme has been co-created with employers to develop skills in business administration, marketing, digital promotion and Team Leading. This programme is made up of four qualifications which will equip you with the skills and knowledge to progress onto one of the level 3 Business courses designed to progress into higher education or employment. After successful completion of the STEPS programme you will achieve all or some of the following qualifications: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Digital Promotion for Business Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Business Administration Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Marketing Fundamentals Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Principles of TEAM LEADING Students are invited to apply for single qualifications, all four are not compulsory. Starting at several different points in the year, the L2 in Business Administration is 5-week course aimed at those aged 19 and over who want to upskill to gain employment within the administration sector. Successful completion of the full programme leads to you achieving the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration. As an administrator you'll provide office support and play a vital role in the smooth-running of your employer's business. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing. You may also be responsible for office projects and tasks, as well as overseeing the work of junior administrative staff. Successful completion of the full programme leads to you achieving the Level 2 Principles of Business Administration qualification. The course may be free, depending on your circumstances, and you could also access a range of financial support – including help with childcare. You will also need to complete an entry assessment, and we will invite you to have an informal discussion with the Course Tutor. Qualification ObtainedBTEC Certificate in Principles of Business Administration Industry Placement and Field TripsWe will actively encourage and support you to take part in voluntary work throughout your course as volunteering is a key way into employment. Learning and Teaching Methods We recognise that all students learn differently and for some it may be a return to the classroom following a break from formal learning. Our tutors work with you to ensure that their teaching methods support the way that you like to learn. This course is delivered in a blended approach by expert tutors, this will include a combination of face to face (onsite) and remote (virtual) sessions. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with your peers in group work, presentations and within practical sessions. There is also dedicated individual/self-study time on your course which needs to be supported by your own study out of the classroom sessions, including completing e-learning tasks accessed via the Canvas platform. You are free to use B&FC learning resources for independent study. We also use a range of online apps to support, enhance and motivate learning. Your tutors will support you with these and other classroom technologies. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Other Costs and Equipment NeededAll students will be expected to provide their own stationery, to include pens, a notepad and an A4 folder. Replacement ID badges will be at a cost of £3 (or £8 if incorporated with a bus pass). For photocopying, students are provided with the first 80 black and white copies free of charge. Any additional black and white copies are charged at 4p per copy. There will be a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities, which we will advise you about at the start of the academic year. These are not mandatory. The costs will vary according to each activity and will be made available to you at enrolment. Tuition Fees Some courses are fully funded for adult learners and, for those that aren’t, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan. You may also be eligible for financial support which can include help with childcare.
