Develop couture sewing techniques with this advanced level course. This is a unique opportunity to develop the specialist stitching skills used by the fashion industry to construct high quality garments. Our fashion experts will guide you through the stages of creating a couture garment, as you develop proficiency in areas such as hand stitching and advanced facing. Based in our industry-standard studio, you can access pattern making systems, industrial sewing machines and design materials while building your own extensive collection of notes and samples. This 7-week course is one of a series of courses that could lead to further study and a new career.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but to get the most out of it you should have advanced sewing skills.
Teaching and Learning Methods
This 7-week course runs from 11 April, on Wednesdays between 6.30 and 8.30pm.
Teaching and learning is mostly by demonstrations, which will be followed by practical tasks and the production of a range of samples and garments.
We will also expect you to complete tasks in your own time outside of class.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
