Course Overview

This apprenticeship provides those already employed by the UK construction industry with a recognised qualification to aid career progression and/or further learning. Designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence, the course enables you to train in all aspects of bench joinery. You will learn about transportable cutting and shaping machines, and develop skills in marking and setting out and producing routine architectural joinery products. You will also learn how to manufacture bespoke bench joinery products. This course develops appropriate knowledge and understanding of health, safety and welfare, essential for the CSCS card and to pursue the wide range of employment opportunities available in this sector.

Entry Requirements

There are no particular entry requirements for this apprenticeship, however an employer will expect you to have a keen interest in site joinery and be able to demonstrate a 'can do' attitude. You should also have a basic standard of numeracy and literacy, which you will further develop on the course.

We will invite you to attend an interview when we will provide advice and guidance about the job role and qualification. You will also need to undertake initial assessments in maths and English.

You need to be working at least 30 hours a week in an occupation relevant to your chosen apprenticeship and be at least 16 years old. If necessary, our Skills and Business Team can support to find a suitable role (we often have a good selection of employers looking to recruit an apprentice).
