Pre Apprenticeship (Traineeship)

This programme is for those learners who are between 16 to 24 years old and wish to pursue a career as an apprentice, but as yet have not gained employment within the industry area of their choice.
The programme (minimum of 12 weeks, up to a maximum of 6 months) will enable you to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours to aid your progression into employment as an apprentice in your chosen sector area.
You will also have an opportunity to develop your maths and English skills.
Traineeships cover a range of vocational areas, including Health and Care (Adult/ Child), Business Administration, Construction, Hospitality and Catering, Engineering, Automotive, Retail, Customer Service and Hair and Beauty.
You also get a free bus pass and a possible £40 bursary (conditions apply).
You must be aged between 16 and 24 years.

Teaching and Learning Methods
Teaching methods include group work, discussions, scenarios, practical sessions, observations in the workplace and weekly progress meetings with your skills coach.
This traineeship comprises:
- 100 hours industry placement
- 60 hours independent study
- 224 hours classroom study

All staff involved in the delivery of any courses within the College are approved to teach and/or assess the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering and/or assessing a given programme are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
