The College’s Students’ Union reached out with a brief to highlight self-love on Valentine’s Day by producing the publication as part of learners’ study of wellbeing.
Students prepared for the assignment by studying stress management and emotional health. They also enjoyed a visit by singer LivvyK, who talked about the importance of mental health and believing in yourself.
The young people also investigated how poverty contributes to stressful lifestyles and social media impacts on mental health, selling an illusion of body perfection.
As a result of the project 200 copies of the Love Yourself brochure were produced - and B&FC received a bumper supply of complimentary female sanitary products for its students as part of Always’ Red Box campaign.
B&FC Early Years lecturer Sally Salthouse said: “Students have really got stuck into this project to produce something that’s very valuable to young people.
“We all need to give more time to our mental health, and body positivity plays a huge role in our emotional wellbeing.
“Feedback has been very positive and students producing this work have learned lots while helping others.”
