Blackpool and The Fylde College staff and students won a brace of project management awards at the industry association's inaugural annual conference.

B&FC award winners at the Association for Project Management's (APM) Festival of Education and Research were:

  • Andy Smith - Lecturer of the Year
  • Yash Kotak - Developmental Programme of the Year (for the Project Management Degree Apprenticeship delivered in conjunction with BAE Systems)
  • Bessie Ashton-Melia (BAE Systems) - Graduate of the Year
  • James Pearce (Rolls-Royce) - Apprentice of the Year

Winner Andy Smith said: "The APM has 35,000 members including more than 500 major organisations - so these achievements shine a spotlight on the study programmes we deliver - and the calibre of students who graduate and provide their employers with exemplary experience and expertise.

Andy's award was his second industry recognition of the year, after he was made a Fellow of the Association for Project Management recognising his contributions to shaping the project profession.

B&FC features a Project Management Centre of Excellence at its University Centre, located on Park Road at the heart of the seaside town and within easy reach of national motorway networks and mainline train services.
