Creating sustainable business solutions at B&FC

If you own a company installing central heating systems or if you work as an independent roofer or electrician, training to install green technologies like air source heat pumps or solar PV panels is a great way to add another string to your bow.

It's also a great way to futureproof your business. From 2025, all newly built houses will feature green technology instead of traditional heating systems to heat internal spaces and provide electricity for domestic use. In fact, you won't be able to install a gas boiler in a new home and from 2035 that will apply to older properties too. Commercial opportunities will dwindle so if you don't reskill, you'll effectively be making yourself redundant.

Some of the legislation may seem a long way off but it will be here before you know it and there will be a growing opportunity to profit from these technologies in the meantime. In fact, it's never too soon to get Retrofit ready.

Our Sustainability Centre

At B&FC, we are walking the talk. As well as installing a whole range of sustainable technologies at our campuses to reduce our own carbon footprint, we've built a Sustainability Centre at our Bispham campus to provide a dedicated training facility for our commercial customers who want to invest in the learning how to install and maintain these cutting-edge technologies.

Featuring all the latest consumer-accessible systems to make domestic dwellings more sustainable, the Sustainability Centre gives students the chance to work directly with the equipment involved to gain the necessary certification to offer these services to market.
