Course Summary This programme has been designed for those aged 19 and over who wish to pursue a career in the sports massage therapy industry. You’ll gain the practical and theoretical expertise to build a rewarding career in this field. We’ll provide you with access to specialist facilities at B&FC’s Bispham Campus, with training provided by our expert tutors. You’ll be expected to attend college on Wednesdays from 5 to 9pm for direct learning elements of the course. Independent study, and externally set assessments and research are also mandatory elements of this course. This course leads to a Level 3 Diploma. As such you may be eligible to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees. Entry Requirements Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out. Learners should have or be working towards a minimum of Level 2 Maths and English. All students will be required to undertake an interview and a Maths and English assessment prior to enrolment. Essential Skills – English and Maths If you achieve a grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English you will have to work towards re-sitting these subjects as part of your main study programme. At B&FC, this won’t delay your career journey because you’re working towards these subjects at the same time as your chosen subject. E-learning is also a key element of all our courses and will involve you using our Moodle platform for independent study and learning. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Assessment Methods On completion of this course you will be able to gain employment and insurance to work as a sports massage therapist. Other Costs and Equipment Needed All students will be expected to provide their own stationery, to include pens, notepad, and an A4 folder. Replacement ID badges will be at a cost of £3 or £8 if incorporated with a bus pass. For photocopying, students are provided with the first 80 black and white free of charge. Any additional copies for black and white are charged at 4p per copy. An enrichment calendar will be made available at the start of the academic year. There will be a wide variety of opportunities for participation, however, these are not mandatory. Costs will vary according to activity and will be available to you at sign up.
