Financial Incentives for Hiring Apprentices

Non-levy Employers

If your annual pay bill is less then £3 million and you have 50 or more employees, the government will pay 95% of the training costs for any new apprentices you take on.

If you have 49 employees or fewer…

If your pay bill is less than £3 million a year and you employ 49 or fewer people, the government will pay:

100% of the training costs for new 16-18 year-old apprentices
100% of the training costs for new 19-24 year-old apprentices who are Care Leavers or have an Education, Health and Care Plan
95% of the training costs for all other new apprentices

Also, you don’t need to pay National Insurance Contributions for apprentices under the age of 25 earning below the higher tax rate of £962 a week (,£4,167 a month).

Levy-employers

If you pay the Apprenticeship Levy, it's important to know that these funds can only be used towards funding the cost of apprenticeship (not for any other training). After 24 months, however, any unspent funding goes back to the government to fund apprenticeships for SMEs,

Whilst many large-scale national and international companies are well-versed in apprenticeships and maximise the funding opportunities for them, it is also the case that smaller organisations that still pay the Apprenticeship Levy often don't use what, in effect, is free training tor their workforce.

At B&FC, we are particularly skilled at helping these businesses optimise the funding available to them to ensure that the monies that they are mandated to pay aren't simply lost.

Apprenticeships for Employers
Hiring an apprentice is a productive and effective way for you to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce

Did you know that in the last five years employers have only spent 56% of the levy funding available to them? Think what a difference using these funds effectively could make to your business.

Upskill your workforce

As well as bringing new talent into your business, now more than ever, businesses are looking to regrow following the pandemic. Apprenticeships are a brilliant way to develop the skills of your current employees and train them in new areas, building your talent pool and increasing staff retention.

At B&FC, we work in partnership with employers to ensure our training services meet your needs, and our programmes provide a highly skilled workforce that delivers a positive return on investment and help support your business objectives.

You will be assigned a dedicated Apprenticeship Training Support Officer who will work with you to identify and fulfil all your training needs. We do the hard work for you – matching the right apprentice to the right role.
