Welcome to Open Events at B&FC

Whether you’re a school leaver preparing to take your next step or an adult wanting to study for a degree, return to education or looking to change careers, Blackpool and The Fylde College is here for you. We’re ready and waiting to help you take the next step.

On-site Open Events - what to expect

We know from talking to existing students that attending Open Events are a real eye opener and can help students make the decision whether B&FC is right for them. It's the perfect time to look around our amazing facilities and explore the fantastic range of courses we offer. You'll also meet our industry specialist tutors, get advice from career experts to ensure your course choices and career aspirations are on track and find out about all the support you can access at B&FC.

Open Events

Saturday 1 October 2022 Bispham Campus and University Centre* 10.30am - 2.30pm

'Have a Go' at our main Autumn Open Event. All our curriculum areas are planning to run activities to give you a flavour of what studying here could be like and a chance to try out some of our industry-standard equipment.

Here's a brief taste of what's on offer -

  • In Automotive, you'll be able to take part in the Pit Stop Challenge. Can you change a wheel faster than a Ferrari mechanic?
  • The Catering team will be offering you the chance to brush up on your burritos with a Mexican Street Food theme event. Arriba!!
  • Can you nail it in the Hair and Beauty area with creative designs at your fingertips?
  • And what about Cracking the Code in Computing's Cryptography Challenge?

Whatever area you are interested in and at whatever level, there will be the opportunity to engage with our curriculum, the chance to chat to our industry-specialist tutors and access to our specialist support teams who can advise you on finances, careers and learning support.

Get Into Primary Teaching Event

Saturday 1 October 2022 University Centre 10.30am - 2.30pm

Also on Saturday 1 October, there is a special Get into Primary Teaching open event with presentations from our partner BBL Teacher Training taking place at 11am and 1pm and our education sector experts on hand to ask any questions you might have. Wednesday 9 November 2022 Bispham Campus and University Centre* 4.30pm - 7.00pm

A green-themed Open Event. Whilst you'll still be able to access everything we normally offer, this Open Event will focus on opportunities to study courses which could ultimately lead to a career in the emergent green industries.

Wednesday 23 November 2022 Bispham Campus and University Centre* 4.30pm - 7.00pm Adult Only

An Open Event especially for adults which is focussed on our 19+ learners. You'll have the chance to explore upskilling opportunities to take your career to the next level or reskilling if you want a complete change. Our experts will be on hand to guide you to the right course and help you access the financial support available to make study a real possibility.

At every event, our industry trained tutors will be available to advise you on all our subject areas and the support you can expect throughout your learning journey. At our Meet the Expert events you will have the opportunity to discuss the course you are interested with a tutor and find out what opportunities lay ahead. Ready to take your career to the next level - or learn skills for a new job? B&FC offers lots of career focused adult courses including English and Maths, Up-skilling and Re-skilling courses and degree-level courses you can study just one day a week.
