Course Overview

This construction multi skills evening course has been designed and developed exclusively for women who would like to experience and learn some of the various trades related to the construction industry.

It is also designed specifically for those who might want to use the skills they acquire on the course to tackle small scale DIY jobs at home or for friends and family, allowing them to do so in a competent and safe manner.

Created for women who might feel more comfortable learning in a female-only environment, the course also aims to develop students' confidence, communication skills and resilience whilst working in a team and independently.

For those considering starting a career in construction, this ten week course is the perfect introduction to the industry allowing them to sample many of the different trades within it and offering them various progression pathways on completion.

Health & Safety in construction is paramount and you will be taught to work safely in all of the various trade areas.

The course is based at the Build Up Centre on Kincraig Road in Bispham in a purpose-built workshop. The workshop is all on one floor level and has been designed to simulate a real-life, construction-related work environment with all tools, equipment and materials relevant to current industry standards.

Delivered entirely in a workshop setting where our trained staff will underpin the practical skills with trade specific knowledge, you will have the opportunity to observe skills and techniques before trying them out yourself under the guidance of our expert tutors.
