What will I learn? Key information Where could this course take me? Course SummaryGCSE Maths is a key qualification for future study and careers and is often asked for by employers and universities. Having good numerical skills are also important in everyday life, helping you to manage your finances, work out a budget, set savings goals and understand financial paperwork like mortgage applications, pensions and payslips Students will have the opportunity to develop confidence, competence and the application skills to use mathematics to solve problems. The course follows the Foundation Tier syllabus with students aiming to achieve a grade 4 or 5. Entry Requirements The course is targeted for students aged 19+. Any students aged below 19 who has not already achieved a Level 4 or above at GCSE will complete Maths alongside their main college course. We can offer you a place on this course if you have a grade D or a grade 3 at GCSE or Functional Skills at Level 2 in the relevant subject. Evidence of this will be required at enrolment. We can also offer you a Pre-GCSE assessment if you do not already have a grade D, grade 3, Functional Skills Level 2, or cannot provide evidence of your prior qualifications. You will be expected to achieve 70% on the Pre-GCSE assessment. Qualification Obtained GCSE Mathematics Industry Placement and Field TripsThis is not applicable as this is a part-time course of 3 hours per week. The course follows the Edexcel (1MA1) Foundation Tier syllabus, where students are aiming to achieving a grade 4 or 5. By learning these topics, you will become confident in using Maths skills in everyday life. Plus, this foundational knowledge will propel you towards further study, should you choose to take this route.
