Course Summary Talent 4 Care is a 5 week programme which is aimed at those wishing to gain work in the health and social care sector. This could be in a hospital environment, care home, working as a home carer in the community or as a personal assistant. Over 5 weeks (Monday to Thursday 10.00 am – 2.30 pm) you will study and gain 4 qualifications, all of which will help prepare you for work in this area. These are: Level 1 Preparing to Working in Adult Social care Level 1 Certificate in Well-being Level 1 Introduction to Safeguarding (Certified Unit) Level 1 Certificate in Job Search and Employment Potential As part of the course you will also learn how to complete an application form, prepare covering letters and construct a CV, all of which will help you in your search for employment. You will also be linked with key employers in the health and social care sector and have the opportunity to attend interviews for current live vacancies. Much of the teaching will be conducted remotely. This means that you are able to study from home at the scheduled times with live teaching sessions delivered online. The tutor will also be available for daily support after the teaching has taken place and will guide you from the beginning to the completion of the programme. You will attend the Health and Social Care Career Academy (Bickerstaffe House) for a 3 hour induction session and again once during the programme to complete your CV. There are also 2 scheduled Friday workshops on weeks 2 and 4 for additional support. Entry Requirements No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 year of age on the 31st August before the course start date. Level 1 Certificate in Job Search and Employment Potential Preparing to achieve own job goals Promoting yourself and preparing for a job interview Motivation for work Money matters for employment Recruitment methods Understanding business culture and values Level 1 Awareness of Protection and Safeguarding in Health and Social Care (Adults and Children and Young People), Early Years and Childcare (Certified Unit) Industry Placement and Field Trips This is a knowledge-only qualification. There are no work placements and no field trips on this programme. Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks. You will attend onsite for an induction to ensure you can access all online resources and to meet your tutor then again during the programme to complete your CV. There are also two scheduled Friday workshops on weeks 2 and 4 for additional support Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Career Options and Progression This programmes is designed to support you in gaining employment in the health and social care sector, such as in a care home or in a hospital or working as a home carer. Following on from this you may be invited to complete a further 5 week programme (Part 2) and will also have the opportunity to progress onto other specialist Level 2 qualifications with us.
