Disabled Student's Allowance (DSA)

DSA is available to Degree-level students to help cover the study-related costs you have due to a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability.

Are you a HE student or applicant with a learning, physical, sensory or mental health disability?

Accessing the right support can make a positive difference to achieving success on your course. We can offer you support through the Disabled Student Allowance non-repayable grant (DSA) and we can help you complete the DSA application too.

Here to help

DSAs are grants to help pay the extra essential costs you may have as a result of your disability which might include:

  • Long-term health condition
  • Mental-health condition
  • Specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia

The DSA grant can pay for the following...

1:1 support specialists

For example: study skills tutors, mental health mentors, sign-language interpreters, or note-takers, and other non-medical support you need to take full advantage of your course.

Any specialist equipment

You need because of your disability.

Other disability-related costs

Such as printer cartridges and paper.

Extra travel costs

You may have to pay to get to your HE course because of your disability (for example, if you need to take a taxi because your disability prevents you from taking public transport).
