B&FC offers several degree-level pathways towards a career in teaching - all the way through to a postgraduate qualification.

Education and Training Certificate (CET) - Level 4

The Certificate in Education and Training is for anyone interested in training in the workplace or for a learning and development sector organisation.

It is also ideal for those that wish to perform a teaching or support role for young people aged 14 and over.

This course develops practical training and teaching skills and knowledge to plan and deliver education and training.

This programme is typically delivered in the evening over 30 weeks, for 3 hours per week.

Education and Training Diploma (DET) - Level 5

The Diploma in Education and Training Level 5 can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers and trainers, this includes:

  • If you are not currently teaching and training but can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification.
  • If you are currently teaching and training, including those who have just begun teaching and training and who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements of the qualification.
  • If you are currently working as an assessor and you wish to achieve a teaching qualification and who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice of the qualification.

Post Graduate Certificate in Education - Level 7 PGCE

Train for a rewarding career in teaching with the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

This nationally-recognised course combines teaching theory with 300 hours’ teaching and teaching-related practice to allow you to develop your own effective teaching style.
